Wildrose Candle Holder

“I work in wood because wood, in its effective, organic materiality, offers a warmth, a personal experience of the material, but also for the characteristic of its easy and responsive conformation in processing. As a technique, carving gives me the opportunity to start from scratch with the material in a definitive gesture to reveal the content, in this way a parallel is made between the life that exists but must be processed, revived.” said the artist.

Description

The work

The melting marble presses into the organic shapes of the scorched wood, as wildly
dancing flames rise like wild roses in the spring breeze.

Hand carved from repurposed pine wood and remnants of white marble. The pine is enhanced using the traditional Japanese Yakisugi method transforming and enhancing thematerial, and it’s then elegantly finished with natural oils and sealed with beeswax. Beneath, a subtle cork lining ensures your surfaces remain pristine.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

For Gabor, creation is a journey of discovery. He is dedicated to designing in harmony with the environment, always allowing the present moment and inherent potential of an object to guide him. This philosophy is echoed in Gobi design, where the mission is to seamlessly blend eco-consciousness with a passion for design.

The artist envisions a world where everyone equally benefits from a pristine environment, fostering sustainable life- styles. He perceives this mission as both a privilege and a profound responsibility — the very catalyst for meaningful change. Crafted items participate in nature’s eternal cycle.
