Description

SENSORIUM

This interactive light sculpture combines technology, perception, and nature in a captivating experience. A surveillance mirror, initially opaque, becomes transparent as digital motion sensors detect a viewer’s presence.

As viewers draw closer, a hidden world is revealed:a mushroom growing delicately within a wooden enclosure, nourished by the same algae used by the artist to create her bioplastic material. Behind the mirror, the sculpture also reveals the materiality of the digital sensor, exposing its circuits alongside the organic presence of the mushroom.

The piece intertwines materiality and process, highlighting a cyclical relationship where the algae not only sustains the mushroom’s growth but also forms the foundation of the biomaterial. This interplay invites viewers to reflect on the interconnectedness of natural and human-made systems.
