Description

MIRA COAL

“MIRA” IS A CONTEMPLATIVE JOURNEY THROUGH THE EPHEMERAL NATURE OF BEING AND THE PROFOUND IMPACT OF OUR PRESENCE. IT INVITES VIEWERS TO PONDER THEIR ROLE IN THE CONTINUUM OF CREATION AND DECAY, TO RECOGNIZE THE TRANSIENT BEAUTY IN BOTH STATES, AND TO FIND MEANING IN THE INTERPLAY BETWEEN LIGHT AND SHADOW, PRESENCE AND ABSENCE. IN “MIRA,” SABACIAG MASTERFULLY INTERTWINES ART AND SCIENCE, OFFERING A LUMINOUS REFLECTION ON THE DELICATE BALANCE OF LIFE’S IMPERMANENCE AND THE ENDURING SPARK OF RENEWAL.

AT ITS CORE, “MIRA” EXPLORES THE DUALITY OF DECAY AND REGENERATION. IN THE ABSENCE OF AN OBSERVER, THE INSTALLATION SUCCUMBS TO AN ENTROPIC DISARRAY, ITS LIGHTS DIMMING TO SIGNIFY A STATE OF DECAY. THIS POIGNANT REACTION UNDERSCORES THE INEVITABILITY OF IMPERMANENCE, MIRRORING THE NATURAL PROCESSES OF DEGRADATION THAT ALL OBJECTS UNDERGO OVER TIME. THE DIMMING LIGHTS SERVE AS A SILENT TESTAMENT TO THE RELENTLESS MARCH OF ENTROPY, A UNIVERSAL FORCE THAT SPARES NOTHING.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Catrinel’s work is driven by my interests in perception and movement, with recurring themes of time perception, entropy, light, and nature. Through her interactive objects, the artist offers experiences that challenge perception and visualize the invisible forces around us in an engaging manner. This recontextualizes reality, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.

The creation of ambiguous objects that seems to appear to shift and change depending on the viewer’s perspective. This practice engages the viewer, making them a co-creator of the experience. Ideally, it serves as a journey of self-reflection.
