Description

The artist draws his inspiration from the earliest myths of hybrids between man and animal. Fables that are present around the globe and date back to antiquity. The mythological creatures are either the direct product of the divine, or the offsprings of gods or warrior created to obey by the commandment of the divine.

Falling” is a work that defines man as a rational animal that moves asymptotically to perfection without ever being allowed to touch it. In his stubbornness to defy his limits, man is doomed to failure sooner or later.

The character is inferior from the beginning by the metallic materiality, heavy and rusty to physically rise, but also by the anatomical construction that prevents him from jumping spiritually. This is one of the great shortcomings of modern society in which the egocentric man has forgotten his place and meaning or has never even known them.

The deer, which you have seen and which is called Falling, is a fall of a sculptural man, slender, idealized, almost like the Greek sculptures, but who has the head of a deer. He tried by a very steep ascent, to the vertical, to overcome his condition, which leads to a fatal fall.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Radu Panait represents the 3rd generation of artist of his family; starting from his grandfather, who was also a renowned Romanian sculptor.

The artist draws his inspiration from the earliest myths of hybrids between man and animal. Fables that are present around the globe and date back to antiquity. The mythological creatures are either the direct product of the divine, or the offsprings of gods or warrior created to obey by the commandment of the divine.

This creative process fascinated the artist and pushed him in this scientific-artistic experiment, by creating his own hybrid entities. Creatures subject of sharing the same rules and fragile existante of mortal humans, in contrast to a superior being.

This zoomorphic metamorphosis, mirrors the modern man who is moving further and further away from the origins that created him. The vanity, the thirst for knowledge and the need for power, is growing stronger in front of the natural, and of the spiritual side.
