Description
Introduction
The artist draws his inspiration from the earliest myths of hybrids between man and animal. Fables that are present around the globe and date back to antiquity. The mythological creatures are either the direct product of the divine, or the offsprings of gods or warrior created to obey by the commandment of the divine.
“Messenger“. Man with eagle claws instead of legs, suspended by an invisible force, unable to use his atrophied and bandaged wings. The flight is a symbolic one, nothing real or achievable by physical means. He has an idealized body like the Greek deities, which tends to canonical perfection.
However, this perfection is strictly physical. His spiritual freedom is taken away by the chain with the galley riveted by one of his claws.
He is no longer a deity but a servant of man. His identity is hidden by the harpy eagle mask as a complement to the failed experiment of which he is a part.
The arc of this artificial product is directed towards the earth, towards its creators. God’s play often proves to be harmful, with many experiments ending tragically for those involved with collateral victims.
There are many cases in which the captive eagle chose after a certain period to attack its master and regain its freedom.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Radu Panait represents the 3rd generation of artist of his family; starting from his grandfather, who was also a renowned Romanian sculptor.
The artist draws his inspiration from the earliest myths of hybrids between man and animal. Fables that are present around the globe and date back to antiquity. The mythological creatures are either the direct product of the divine, or the offsprings of gods or warrior created to obey by the commandment of the divine.
This creative process fascinated the artist and pushed him in this scientific-artistic experiment, by creating his own hybrid entities. Creatures subject of sharing the same rules and fragile existante of mortal humans, in contrast to a superior being.
This zoomorphic metamorphosis, mirrors the modern man who is moving further and further away from the origins that created him. The vanity, the thirst for knowledge and the need for power, is growing stronger in front of the natural, and of the spiritual side.
